Prerequisites and requirements for the aptitude test

The prerequisites and requirements for the aptitude test can be found in the aptitude test regulations.

Charge for aptitude test

At the Hochschule für Musik Saar, each exam applicant will be required to pay a fee of 50, – € for participating in the aptitude test for the respective degree program.

For students already enrolled at HfM Saar, the fee for completing another or additional aptitude test for studying at HfM Saar is reduced to 24 €.

This regulation applies from the application procedure for the winter semester 2018/2019.

The transfer must be made exclusively to the bank details given below and must be evidenced by bank statement or cash payment receipt. The payment of this fee is a prerequisite for participation in the aptitude test. If the payment is not proven, participation in the qualifying examination can not take place.

If the aptitude test is repeated, the fee will be charged again.

A repayment of the fee is excluded in principle; this also applies to the withdrawal of the application!

German language skills

The Saar University of Music senate has decided to require TestDaF (test of German as a foreign language) level 3 as proof of the German language skills stipulated in the matriculation regulations, and refers candidates to the Music College Rector’s Conference decision dated May 2008.

TestDaF-3
TestDaF is an advanced language examination which separately tests the four skills of reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and oral expression. Each section must be completed at TDN level 3. Candidates may resit the examination as many times as they like. There are now testing centres in 76 countries, meaning that you can acquire the necessary German skills in your home country. For more information please visit www.testdaf.de.

Certificate
Examinees who pass the TestDaF examination will receive a certificate separately listing the results achieved for all four skills (sections). Following a TestDaF central marking process, you will receive the certificate six to eight weeks after the examination date.

Examination fee
You must pay a fee to take the TestDaF examination. Your testing centre will inform you of the exact price. In most countries, the current price is 100 to 130 euros.

The exemplary entrance examinations presented here are designed simply to provide an approximate idea of the exam’s structure and degree of difficulty. The actual examination may be very different from the examples. The University of Music therefore accepts no liability whatsoever.
