Marc Strobel steht für eine zeitgenössische, interdisziplinäre Auffassung des Schlagwerks – zwischen orchestraler Präzision, musikalischer Gestaltungskraft und konzeptioneller Weite. Als Professor, Orchestermusiker, Komponist und Creative Director verbindet er künstlerische Exzellenz mit internationaler Praxis und konzeptionellem Denken.

Seit der Spielzeit 2016/17 ist er 1. Schlagzeuger des Staatsorchesters Stuttgart. Zuvor führten ihn Engagements unter anderem zum HR-Sinfonieorchester, zur Staatskapelle Berlin, zum SWR-Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden & Freiburg, an die Oper Frankfurt sowie zum Saarländischen Staatsorchester.

Solistische Auftritte mit dem SWR-Sinfonieorchester unter François-Xavier Roth und dem Philharmonischen Staatsorchester Hamburg unter Kent Nagano ergänzen seine Orchesterlaufbahn. Gastspiele führten ihn in bedeutende Konzertsäle Europas, in die USA, nach Asien, in den Nahen Osten und nach Afrika. Mehrfach war er Mitglied des Orchesters des Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festivals, mit Konzerten unter anderem bei den Salzburger Festspielen.

Als Pädagoge ist Marc Strobel regelmäßig bei internationalen Festivals und Akademien tätig, darunter die Järvi Academy in Pärnu, die University of Debrecen, die Jeju International Percussion Academy (Südkorea) sowie das Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra. Von 2024 bis 2026 war er Dozent für Orchesterschlagwerk an der HfMDK Frankfurt.

Gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder und Kammermusik-Partner, Prof. Kai Strobel, gründete er 2020 die Boum-Percussion Academy im Großraum Stuttgart – ein internationales Format zur gezielten Förderung und Vernetzung des Schlagzeugnachwuchses.

Ein zentraler Schwerpunkt seiner künstlerischen Arbeit liegt auf der Verbindung von Schlagwerk, Elektronik und Bewegung. In enger Zusammenarbeit mit Choreograf:innen und Compagnien wie dem Stuttgarter Ballett, der Gauthier Dance Company und dem Phoenix Dance Theatre Leeds entstehen abendfüllende Produktionen und immersive Klangräume. Seine Werke werden in Theatern in ganz Europa aufgeführt, beim Porsche Tennis Cup gefeatured und unter anderem von „3sat“ ausgestrahlt.

Als Creative Director entwickelt Marc Strobel Projekte, Strategien und Markenformate an der Schnittstelle von Kultur, Technologie und Instrumentenbau. Dabei verbindet er performative Praxis mit konzeptioneller Entwicklung und langfristiger Projektplanung.

Neben seiner Konzert- und Kompositionstätigkeit wirkt er regelmäßig als Musiker in Schauspielproduktionen mit renommierten Schauspielern wie Walter Sittler, Joachim Król und Miroslav Nemec mit.

Marc Strobel represents a contemporary, interdisciplinary approach to percussion — situated between orchestral precision, musical artistry, and conceptual breadth. As a professor, orchestral musician, composer, and creative director, he combines artistic excellence with international experience and strategic thinking.

Since the 2016/17 season, he has served as Principal Percussionist of the Staatsorchester Stuttgart. Previous engagements have taken him to the HR Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden & Freiburg, the Frankfurt Opera, and the Saarländisches Staatsorchester.

His orchestral career is complemented by solo appearances with the SWR Symphony Orchestra under François-Xavier Roth and the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg under Kent Nagano. Guest performances have led him to major concert halls throughout Europe, the United States, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. He has also been a recurring member of the orchestra of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, including performances at the Salzburg Festival.

As an educator, Marc Strobel is regularly invited to international festivals and academies, including the Järvi Academy in Pärnu, the University of Debrecen, the Jeju International Percussion Academy (South Korea), and the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra. From 2024 to 2026, he served as Lecturer in Orchestral Percussion at the HfMDK Frankfurt.

Together with his brother and chamber music partner, Prof. Kai Strobel, he founded the Boum-Percussion Academy in the greater Stuttgart area in 2020 — an international platform dedicated to the focused development and networking of emerging percussionists.

A central focus of his artistic work lies in the integration of percussion, electronics, and movement. In close collaboration with choreographers and companies such as the Stuttgart Ballet, Gauthier Dance Company, and Phoenix Dance Theatre Leeds, he creates full-length productions and immersive sound environments. His works are performed in theatres across Europe, featured at the Porsche Tennis Cup, and broadcast by the cultural television channel 3sat.

As a Creative Director, Marc Strobel develops projects, strategies, and brand formats at the intersection of culture, technology, and instrument making. His work combines performative practice with conceptual development and long-term artistic planning.

Alongside his concert and compositional activities, he regularly performs in theatre productions with renowned actors such as Walter Sittler, Joachim Król, and Miroslav Nemec.
