The application period for starting studies in the winter semester is from December 15th to March 14th.
The application period for starting studies in the summer semester is from August 1st to November 28th.
The aptitude tests for the winter semester usually take place in May and the aptitude tests for the summer semester in January. The examination periods are also published on our homepage under www.hfmsaar.de/termine-fristen. The exact dates and times will of course be communicated to you in good time.
No, you just have to submit the application via our online application portal. You can upload the required documents directly to the portal.
The aptitude test fee for applicants is €50.
For students already enrolled at the HfM Saar, who are applying for an additional study program, the fee is €24.
No, the aptitude test fee only has to be paid once, even for multiple applications.
No, a refund of the aptitude test fee is not possible, even if the application is withdrawn. Please be aware of this.

The semester fee is currently €360.90 per semester (as of summer semester 2025). However, fees vary and may change each semester, this is a guide only.

Applicants and students who come from abroad need a TestDaF3 or a B1 language certificate. This must be submitted by the time of enrollment. If this is not the case, you will be enrolled conditionally and given a deadline by which proof of language skills must be submitted (usually by the 2nd semester). If you are unable to provide proof of language skills by the set deadline, you will be exmatriculated.

Yes, this is an admission requirement for foreign applicants in order to be able to enroll unconditionally. The lessons are held in German, so we ensure that you are able to follow the lessons.

If you have previously studied at another music college and are perhaps even changing university, you can usually have the theory and minor subject exams recognized. To do this, please send an email to Ms. Barbara Hartz (b.hartz@hfm.saarland.de) with the relevant evidence, such as a transcript of records.
You have the opportunity to practice and prepare for around 20-30 minutes before your exam. In addition, it is unfortunately not possible to use the HfM Saar's premises for practice.
You will receive your final decision with the results of the aptitude test approx. 2-3 weeks after the aptitude test. Admission notices can only be sent after the admissions conference, which usually takes place two weeks after the aptitude test week. Rejection notices may be sent earlier.
